Two of us - a gay male writer and a lesbian female writer - decided to create a group for LGBTs who are serious about their writing, and want to share their work in an environment that understands and celebrates LGBT literature. The purpose of the group is to support each other's writing endeavors through positive encouragement, thoughtful critique and celebration. The format is biweekly meetings during which we discuss the work of two or three writers, depending on length of submissions. We'll …
When I was looking for members to join an established writing group of which I am part, I found there were many people who wanted a group for the beginning or novice writer. I started this group for those who might be intimidated by authors they feel are further along in their writing. I will be facilitating the group by giving writing assignments and exercises to those who would like them. I will also guide the group in their critiques which can be helpful to new writers and new groups in gen …

This group is open to serious writers of fantasy, science fiction, urban fantasy, new weird, horror, slipstream, steampunk...anyone writing under the vast umbrella of near-realities and un-realities we enjoy reading so much. … The facilitator will lead introductions and then the group will write for an hour. There will then be 15-30 minutes of social time to get to know each other and possibly discuss personal writing successes such as getting published or overcoming writing resistance in some small way. No critiquing, exercises, lectures, ego, competition or feeling guilty. Writing is the only thing that, when I do it, I don't feel I should be doing something else. Gloria Steinem

I'm looking to form a small group from people who are serious about fiction writing, and who are actively doing so. By active, I mean writing to get published. This group is for us to get together and read and critique each others' work. Any genre, any age--everyone's welcome. The quality of your work, degree of seriousness, and courtesy towards the group is the most important thing. The basic format of a meeting is such: Each writer brings in 1000 or so words from whatever they’re working on …

Welcome to the NYC Wine Bar Meetup! We created this group as a way to network with other wine enthusiasts who enjoy hanging out and drinking wine at some of the city's best wine bars. At each meetup we'll pick a new wine bar to check out, and we hope that you'll join us! While our common interest is wine, ultimately, we hope that this group will be an opportunity to meet and network with New Yorkers who would like to discuss topics beyond wine. In keeping with the intimate atmosphere at most win …

"To philosophize, we may now say, is an extraordinary questioning into the extraordinary." -- Martin Heidegger, 1935 * * * "The critique of scientism within phenomenology does not seek to refute or negate the results of scientific research in the name of some mystical apprehension of the unity of man and nature, or whatever. Rather, it simply insists that science does not provide the primary or most significant access to a sense of ourselves and the world. Anti-scientism does not at all entail a …
